Reflection After Praying to Renounce Believing You are or could be a god

Take a moment to breathe.

You’ve just spoken truth, renounced deception, and invited the Holy Spirit to fill places that were once shaped by confusion or pride. This is a holy moment — not because of emotion or intensity, but because you have aligned yourself with the truth of God’s Word.

Let your heart settle into that.

1. Remember Who God Is

God is not threatened by your past beliefs.
He is not disappointed in you.
He is not surprised by anything you once thought or followed.

He is the One who rescues, restores, and gently leads His children back to truth.

“The Lord is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love.”
Psalm 145:8

Let that kindness wash over you.

2. Remember Who You Are

You are not defined by the lies you once believed.
You are not marked by your past spiritual confusion.
You are not stained by old teachings or old identities.

You are God’s creation - loved, chosen, redeemed, and held.

“See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God.”

You are His child, not His rival.
His beloved, not His equal.
His workmanship, not His competitor.

Rest in that truth.

3. Notice What Has Shifted

As you prayed, something real happened — not dramatic, but deep.

• A lie was broken.
• A burden was lifted.
• A false identity was released.
• A door was closed.
• A new clarity began to form.

You may feel peace.
You may feel nothing at all.
Both are perfectly normal.

Deliverance is often quiet, gentle, and steady — like dawn breaking, not lightning striking.

4. Invite the Holy Spirit to Continue the Work

The prayer you prayed wasn’t an ending. It was a beginning.

Ask the Holy Spirit to keep shaping your thoughts, renewing your mind, and anchoring you in truth.

“He leads me beside quiet waters. He restores my soul.”
Psalm 23:2–3

Let Him restore you slowly, kindly, faithfully.

5. Walk Forward in Truth

You don’t need to fear slipping back into old beliefs.
Truth has a way of holding you steady.

Each day, remind yourself:

• God is God.
• I am His child.
• His Word is my foundation.
• His Spirit is my guide.
• His love is my security.

You are not walking away from something — you are walking toward Someone.

Toward Jesus.
Toward freedom.
Toward clarity.
Toward peace.

You don’t need to become a god to be whole.
You don’t need exaltation to be loved.
You don’t need hidden knowledge to be secure.

You already have a perfect God who calls you His own.

Deliverance Prayer for Someone Who Believed They Could Become a God

Father God,

I come before You in humility and truth, seeking Your freedom and Your light.

You see every belief I have held, every idea that shaped me, and every place where confusion or pride tried to take root. You know the thoughts that led me to believe I could become something You never designed me to be.

Today, in the Name of Jesus, I renounce the lie that I can become a god.

I reject every teaching, influence, or spiritual deception that told me I could rise to a divine status, gain hidden power, or elevate myself to Your level.

Your Word says there is only one God, and I declare that truth over my life.

Lord Jesus, I break agreement with every spirit of pride, self‑exaltation, secret knowledge, or spiritual deception that tried to pull me away from the simplicity of the Gospel.

Can Humans Become Gods? | A Simple Biblical Look at a Big Question

Many religions and belief systems teach that human beings can eventually become gods or divine beings. It’s an idea that sounds appealing — the promise of power, glory, and spiritual elevation. But the Bible gives a very different picture of who God is and who we are.

This blog will walk through:

• What the Bible actually teaches
• What the LDS Church (Mormons) teaches
• Other religions that teach humans can become gods
• Why the biblical truth brings freedom, not confusion

Let’s keep it simple and grounded in Scripture.

1. What the Bible Says About God and Humanity

The Bible is crystal clear on one foundational truth:

God is God — and we are not.

God is the only God

• “Before Me no god was formed, nor shall there be any after Me.” — Isaiah 43:10
• “I am the first and I am the last; besides Me there is no god.” — Isaiah 44:6

God says there were no gods before Him and there will be none after Him. That includes humans.

Humans are created beings

• “It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves.” — Psalm 100:3

We are God’s creation — not divine, not eternal, not capable of becoming gods.

The original lie was “You will be like God”

• “You will be like God…” — Genesis 3:5

The very first deception Satan used in the Garden of Eden was the promise of becoming like God. The Bible warns us not to fall for the same lie in new packaging.

We are adopted, redeemed, and glorified — but never divine.

• “We are children of God… heirs with Christ.” — Romans 8:17

Being God’s children means we receive His love, His salvation, and His inheritance — not His Godhood.

2. What the LDS Church (Mormons) Teaches

The LDS Church teaches a doctrine called exaltation, which says:

• God the Father was once a man who became a god.
• Faithful LDS members can also become gods.
• Exalted humans can rule worlds and have spirit children.
• “As man is, God once was; as God is, man may become.” (A well‑known LDS teaching)

This is not found in the Bible.

Why this contradicts Scripture

1. God was never a man.
• “God is not a man…” — Numbers 23:19
2. No one can become a god.
• “There is no other God besides Me.” — Isaiah 45:5
3. God is eternal and unchanging.
• “From everlasting to everlasting, You are God.” — Psalm 90:2
4. The idea of becoming gods mirrors the serpent’s lie.
• “You will be like God…” — Genesis 3:5

The LDS doctrine of exaltation directly opposes the Bible’s teaching about God’s uniqueness and humanity’s nature.

3. Other Religions That Teach Humans Can Become Gods

The LDS Church is not alone. Several belief systems teach some form of human divinization:

Hinduism

• Teaches that the soul (atman) is divine and part of Brahman.
• The goal is to realize your own god‑nature.

New Age / Modern Spirituality

• Teaches that everyone has a “divine spark.”
• Encourages people to “awaken the god within.”

Freemasonry

• Promotes the idea that humans can ascend spiritually through secret knowledge, rituals, and moral progression. Teaches that everyone has a “divine spark.”
• While it does not openly teach that people become gods, it does present a path of self‑exaltation and hidden wisdom that contradicts the Bible’s teaching that salvation and transformation come only through Christ, not through human effort or secret enlightenment (John 14:6; Ephesians 5:11).

Transhumanism (Human 2.0 Concepts)

• Transhumanism the push toward “Human 2.0” through technology, enhancement, and biological modification also fits this pattern. 
• It promotes the belief that humans can transcend their God‑given limits through scientific advancement, merging with machines, or upgrading the human body and mind.
• Often presented as progress, the underlying message mirrors other non‑biblical systems: humanity can elevate itself toward a higher, god‑like state through its own power. 

Buddhism (certain branches)

• Not “godhood” in the Western sense, but enlightenment elevates a person beyond normal human limits.

Ancient Pagan Religions

• Taught that heroes or rulers could ascend to godhood.

Gnosticism (early church heresy)

• Claimed secret knowledge could elevate humans to divine status.

Across history, the idea of humans becoming gods is common — but it is never biblical.

4. The Beautiful Biblical Truth

The Bible doesn’t promise godhood.

It promises something far better:

We become God’s children — not gods.

• “See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God!” — 1 John 3:1

We receive eternal life — not divine status.

• “The gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” — Romans 6:23

We are transformed — but never deified.

• “We shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.” — 1 John 3:2

“Like Him” refers to purity, holiness, and resurrection glory — not becoming gods.

We worship God — we never become Him.

• “Worship Him who made heaven and earth.” — Revelation 14:7

The Bible always draws a clear line between Creator and creation.

When humans try to become gods, they:

• repeat the serpent’s lie
• misunderstand God’s holiness
• misunderstand our need for grace
• place hope in self‑exaltation instead of Christ’s salvation

But when we embrace the truth:

• God is God
• We are His beloved children

• Our identity is secure in Christ

…we find peace, clarity, and freedom.

You don’t need exaltation to be loved.

You don’t need divine status to have eternal hope.

You already have the greatest gift:

A perfect, eternal, unchanging God who loves you, saves you, and calls you His own.

The devil is very good at misleading and deceiving us, and our ancestors were no different, many being caught up in false teachings of religions and beliefs. This is a gentle, biblically grounded prayer focusing on freedom in Christ and inviting Holy Spirit to break confusion, restore truth and bring healing where false teaching has shaped a family line.

Deliverance Prayer for Freedom From Generational False Teaching

Father God,

I come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, the One who is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. I thank You that Your truth brings freedom and that Your light drives out all darkness.

Lord, You know the history of my family. You know every place where my ancestors were influenced by teachings that did not align with Your Word. Today, I bring before You any involvement my family line has had with doctrines that distorted the finished work of Jesus, added burdens You never placed on Your children, or created fear instead of freedom.

In the name of Jesus, I renounce every false belief, every inherited confusion, and every spiritual influence that entered my family through these teachings.

I break agreement with anything that denied the sufficiency of the cross, questioned the completeness of Christ’s atonement, or placed human effort where only grace belongs.

Lord Jesus, I declare that Your sacrifice is enough, Your blood is enough, and Your righteousness is enough.

I reject every spirit of fear, legalism, perfectionism, or condemnation that may have attached itself to my family through these doctrines. I command every such influence to leave me now in the name of Jesus Christ.

Holy Spirit, fill every place in me that was touched by confusion or error.

Replace it with Your truth, Your peace, and Your clarity.
Restore my spiritual inheritance so that it is rooted only in Christ and His Word.

Father, I bless my ancestors with forgiveness. I release them from judgment, knowing that many followed what they believed was right. I ask You to redeem my family line, cleanse it, and establish it firmly in the gospel of grace.

I declare that from this day forward, my identity is found in Christ alone.

My mind is renewed by Your Word.
My spirit is anchored in Your truth.
My life is covered by the blood of Jesus.

There is freedom when we acknowledge the mistakes of our ancestors and forgive them for there errors. As we do so, we unlock the chains that have held us and allow the freedom that comes with knowing truth. We are not obligated to follow in their footsteps or be harassed by the demons they opened doors for in our family lines.

If you have believed false teaching too, begin to feed your mind on truth. The truth of God sets us free and as you keep feeding yourself with undistorted truth you will walk in the freedom Jesus died for you to have.
